UPS AND DOWNS

Last year was my heaviest.

But I was able to run an ultra.

After the 2nd BDM 160K of January,

I finished Tanay Ultramarathon 50K at 68 kgs, in 08:30:28. Cut-off is 9 hours. This was March 25, 2012. It was a very slow run for me…

I finished Mayon 360 50-miles International Ultramarathon at 74 kgs, in 14:32:23. Cut-off is 15 hours. This was April 21, 2012. A hard run due to 6-sets of rain and sun. I suffered a lot of blisters – but still finished well.

After Mayon 360, I finished the 2nd Fort Magsaysay to Dingalan 60K Ultramarathon in 10:36:49. Cut-off is 11 hours. A good run despite the exchanges of rain and sun.

Then, comes the hardcore Clark-Miyamit Falls 60K Trail Ultramarathon which I finished in 15:16:40. Cut-off is 16 hours. The best ultra run I’ve had. I executed my plan so well that I was so happy when I crossed the finish line.

I have got no marathon for 2012. I am looking forward to 2013.

To date, I am at my lowest weight and at a very nice condition.

I am at 58 kgs only. Never missing a good meal – and a good day to run.

My ideal weight for my built and height is 54 kgs. I am so near to achieving that. ๐Ÿ™‚

Maybe, by Laguna to Quezon 50K Ultramarathon day – i’d be at my best fitness and weight. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks be to God!

Newton reActivated

6th of May 2013

Ran from Pedro Gil to CCP and back home via Remedios in Malate.

6.07K 6:1 run walk in 00:44:09

SPLITS: 7:19 / 7:17 / 7:38 / 6:42 / 7:21 / 7:38

The shoe remained to be tough and nice to my feet.

While the lugs are all reduced to half, and there are lots of “bruises” in the sole, it still is the best ride so far.

I have done the following marathons in this shoe:

  1. Cebu Marathon in 05:49:21 January 10, 2010
  2. Condura Marathon 2010 in 5:56:16 February 7, 2010. Pacer using Galloway 7:45
  3. 34th MILO Marathon in 5:42:14 July 4, 2010
  4. 2nd QCIM in 5:13:08 December 5, 2010. Official Race Pacer for 5:15 finish time
  5. 35th MILO Marathon in 5:58:39 July 31, 20100. Pacer for a 6-hour finish time.

To date, it’s mileage before this 6K is 1,365.

I have written about it before in the following posts:

http://forefoot.wordpress.com/2012/05/08/tough-shoes-where-art-thou/

http://forefoot.wordpress.com/2012/01/12/longest-races-on-a-shoe/

Looking forward now to a marathon again, with it! ๐Ÿ™‚

IN Doubt?

hMMMMNN

More than Just a FOREFOOT Runner

Simple words.

Joining an ultramarathon for the first time is a major decision.

Well joining an ultramarathon for the nth time makes it a lot more complicated. LOL

  • you spend a lot
  • you torture yourself a lot
  • you end up liking it a lot

But if and when you are in doubt about finishing, hereโ€™s what I suggest you do:

  1. Get a pacer
  • someone who is a veteran runner (not necessarily fast)
  • someone who never surrenders
  • someone who can show you the way itโ€™s done

You know na WHO?
