He is one from Cavite and a Team Mate of mine: Team Cavite ESE.
His name is Rhomnick De Rosas.
We met at McDonald’s Talaba for the pick-up.
Quick transaction. Little chat. Then I went home.
I wanted to try it out already but I was having a hard time deciding on the lacing. 🙂 LOLs
So, I ended up running in the afternoon of Sunday. A boring loop run at Plaza Dilao.
I walked from the house to Quirino Avenue.
The walk is already comfortable. It felt like my feet is “at home.”
Upon crossing, I started my garmin. Slow jog is what I have in mind. I don’t know yet how the Tsi will perform or how my feet will even react in harmony to it.
I started a 1K in 9 minutes 33 seconds. A jog indeed. Slowly, I tried to add speed. As you can see from the map, the loop is a protractor. The curve is my slow jog. The direct line is my speed. The fastest I could get – when I’m on a shoe.
I tried the same this time. Gradually increasing the velocity. I averaged 8 minutes by the 4th Kilometer. Since it’s getting darker, I need to speed up. And so I tried. The technique requires a bit heightened knee. The footstrike is not a problem. I landed on the mid-fore and kept at it. I increased the turn-around while lifting my knee a bit higher.
I was cruising at 6 minutes to 6:30. I liked it. No issues at all. The cushioning is perfect for me. Add to that – it’s very light!
Ending was an average of 7 minutes 30 seconds per Kilometer for a 9-km run. Not bad! Since I started the first 4K at an average of 8 minutes.
This K-Tsi can be trusted. But I will have to find out on a longer run…on a different road and route. I will also try a different but better lacing.

The time was 3:45pm in the afternoon. The weather is gloomy. A bit of a drizzle due to Typhoon Santi. Nowhere better near to run than in this place. 🙂
It’s near home. I can walk back anytime in less than 10 minutes.

I was only planning to run at least a 10K for this afternoon. However, while on my jogs, I noticed how consistent my pace is. Then Zatopek’s workout entered my mind. Then questions, pop out. Can I really do 100 loops here?
I am also wearing a timex watch with only 9 laps. I started with 5 loops per lap.
By the 2nd lap, I am already thirsty since this work-out is a slow jog of 4 loops plus 1 sprint loop every 5th loop, of every lap. I just don’t carry anything to drink when I am not running more than 20K.
So, by the 22nd loop, while I counter my thirst, I still maintained my pace.
I was tempted to stop when I reached the 8th Lap (40th loop)..but then, the heck! I can still push and I know it. 5 more and a bit faster! LOLS

We should be meeting at 4am inside KFC Coastal. I was there before 3am. It was a cold morning. I was right about bringing a thick sweatshirt. By 4am when the group is already complete, we headed to the Bus Terminal at Coastal Mall. To Evercrest! The jump-off for Mount Batulao. We ate breakfast first at a nearby store whose name I forgot. They have a delicious-looking menu.
By 6:28am, we’re already walking to the gate of Evercrest. We opted not to get a guide. We’d just ask around – if ever we get lost. We did! LOLS.
Anyways, the route to Peak 8 was a bit easy. Going to Peak 9 up to the Summit was a bit challenging already. Top that with the Rappeling down from the Summit to the old trail’s Camp 7!
From Camp 7 to 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 – it was all just easy. We even stopped to eat. Camp 1 to Peak 1 is where the challenge is. 🙂
The heat of the sun made it all challenging.
It was a relaxed adventure. Lots of time to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. We stopped to rest. We took our time on the descents and ascents. No pressure at all.
