Why We Need God

Let’s be very candid about this.

We all need God. We all need His only Son, our Saviour. We all need Jesus.

Here’s my Top 10 Reasons Why:

  1. We need to stay with God and honor Him!
    • Psalm 50:23 New Living Translation
But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.”

      • Jonah 2:9 New Living Translation
But I will offer sacrifices to you with songs of praise, and I will fulfill all my vows. For my salvation comes from the LORD alone.” 3-9-10
  2. We ought to be Holy – for He is Holy and this is His will for us!
    • 1 Thessalonians 4:3 New Living Translation God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.

      • Ephesians 5:17 New Living Translation
Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
  3. We need to show love – for this is His command. Love is merciful and full of compassion.
    • Hosea 6:6 New Living Translation I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings.
    • Matthew 9:13 New Living Translation Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
    • 1 John 3:23 New Living Translation And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us.
    • Proverbs 21:3 New Living Translation The LORD is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices.
    • Micah 6:8 New Living Translation No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
  4. We need Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding. Only God can give us this.
    • James 1:5 New Living Translation If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
    • Proverbs 2:6 New Living Translation For the LORD grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
  5. We need God’s grace to enable us to do what we cannot – to do good and not sin!
  6. We are sinners and we need to be saved. We need forgiveness, and only the offended God can pardon us.
    • Romans 3:23 New Living Translation
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

  7. We need to change, and that is possible only by union with Jesus Christ our Lord! We need to belong to Him and become one with Him. Where there is no change in a person, there is no real union with Christ. It’s all about living a new life with Jesus Christ as the reigning King, and Lord, of our life.
    • 2 Corinthians 5:17 New Living Translation
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.
  8. We need power and strength. Only God can give this. All and everything we need comes from Him. He is the Creator of the heavens and of the earth!
    • Isaiah 40:28-29 New Living Translation
Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.

God is awesome in his sanctuary. The God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!
  9. We ought to be joyful, and prayerful and thankful to Him! Prayer is communion with our God, our loving Father. We may not be able to thank Him if our heart is not filled with joy, but we are commanded to give thanks. Life in Christ is not about feelings or emotions. It is about the power of God in our life, His Holy Spirit.

They may not be in the best order of idea but they are the essentials.

Glory to God!
