1 JOHN 3:18 New Living Translation
Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
Yes. Love ought to be active. Not just in words but in truth and in action. It has to be shown. It must be expressed in a way that it is felt. It can be ignored, yes, but not always. This is the case only when the recipient is estranged or detached or totally alien to the feeling.
Love is something I would not normally define but something I’d do or show. Sinner that I am, I love those who love me…and receive love to those I love. Nothing, however, can compare to God’s love, to His command to love our enemy, To even pray for those who persecute us. Such love requires deeper intimacy to the Father’s love. Such is something you have to desire to feel. While it is already given, it can only be found thru the Son – our Lord Jesus – the Father’s greatest expression of love. God is love and to love is the greatest commandment from God.
So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.
1 John 4:12
No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.
1 John 4:20
If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?
1 Peter 1:22
You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
2 Thessalonians 3:5
May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.
All praise, glory and thanksgiving to God, our loving Father!
