God in ABC

God is more than what the alphabet can describe. What we know of Him is from our experience and His own revelation. Read on…A collection of literal verses from the Bible.

Alive / Able / Almighty

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

Beautiful

Psalm 104:1-2 New American Standard Bible
Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty, Covering Yourself with light as with a cloak, Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain.

Caring / Compassionate / Creator / Consuming

1 Peter 5:7 New Living Translation
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Isaiah 40:28 New Living Translation
Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.

Psalm 116:5 New International Version

Psalm 145:8 NET Bible

Deliverer

Psalm 144:2 A Psalm of David. New International Version
He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.

Matthew Henry Commentary
144:1-8 When men become eminent for things as to which they have had few advantages, they should be more deeply sensible that God has been their Teacher. Happy those to whom the Lord gives that noblest victory, conquest and dominion over their own spirits. A prayer for further mercy is fitly begun with a thanksgiving for former mercy. There was a special power of God, inclining the people of Israel to be subject to David; it was typical of the bringing souls into subjection to the Lord Jesus. Man’s days have little substance, considering how many thoughts and cares of a never-dying soul are employed about a poor dying body. Man’s life is as a shadow that passes away. In their highest earthly exaltation, believers will recollect how mean, sinful, and vile they are in themselves; thus they will be preserved from self-importance and presumption. God’s time to help his people is, when they are sinking, and all other helps fail.

Enables / Everlasting

Exodus 4:11 New International Version
The LORD said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the LORD?

Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.

God gives some people great wealth and honor and everything they could ever want, but then he doesn’t give them the chance to enjoy these things. They die, and someone else, even a stranger, ends up enjoying their wealth! This is meaningless–a sickening tragedy.

Matthew Henry Commentary
6:1-6 A man often has all he needs for outward enjoyment; yet the Lord leaves him so to covetousness or evil dispositions, that he makes no good or comfortable use of what he has. By one means or other his possessions come to strangers; this is vanity, and an evil disease. A numerous family was a matter of fond desire and of high honour among the Hebrews; and long life is the desire of mankind in general. Even with these additions a man may not be able to enjoy his riches, family, and life. Such a man, in his passage through life, seems to have been born for no end or use. And he who has entered on life only for one moment, to quit it the next, has a preferable lot to him who has lived long, but only to suffer.

Matthew Henry Commentary
2:18-26 Our hearts are very loth to quit their expectations of great things from the creature; but Solomon came to this at length. The world is a vale of tears, even to those that have much of it. See what fools they are, who make themselves drudges to the world, which affords a man nothing better than subsistence for the body. And the utmost he can attain in this respect is to allow himself a sober, cheerful use thereof, according to his rank and condition. But we must enjoy good in our labour; we must use those things to make us diligent and cheerful in worldly business. And this is the gift of God. Riches are a blessing or a curse to a man, according as he has, or has not, a heart to make a good use of them. To those that are accepted of the Lord, he gives joy and satisfaction in the knowledge and love of him. But to the sinner he allots labour, sorrow, vanity, and vexation, in seeking a worldly portion, which yet afterwards comes into better hands. Let the sinner seriously consider his latter end. To seek a lasting portion in the love of Christ and the blessings it bestows, is the only way to true and satisfying enjoyment even of this present world.

 Tasty / True / Trust

Psalm 34:8 New Living Translation
Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!

Psalm 71:5 American King James Version
For you are my hope, O Lord GOD: you are my trust from my youth.

Upright

Deuteronomy 32:4 New Living Translation
He is the Rock; his deeds are perfect. Everything he does is just and fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright he is!

Victory

Exodus 15:2 New Living Translation
The LORD is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him–my father’s God, and I will exalt him!

Wonderful / Worthy

Psalm 105:2 New Living Translation
Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.
Revelation 4:11 New Living Translation
“You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

The 18th of February 2017

We adjusted our Prayer Watch time from 12:00nn to 6:00pm to 6:00am to 12:00nn. All for the purpose of a mission: to go to Pampanga and have my Parent-in-Law accept the Lord.

We are just hoping for the best. We do not know how it will be.

So we traveled on the same day to Pampanga. Late afternoon, we arrived. Dinner. After dinner, we’re ready for bed – but we do intend to praise and worship the Lord and pray. My wife invited her parents if they wish to join – at least listen. They did!

By God’s grace, after a few song – I started to pray. God’s wisdom is indeed way too awesome compared to ours. No mind can conceive what He has prepared.

I was lead by the Holy Spirit into prayer – a prayer preaching. Asking the Lord to remind us of all the good things He has done for us. Since, we are singing that He is good, that every good and perfect gift comes from the Father. We just started thanking Him for all the good things He has done for us, and every great gift we received. Even our life! our breath! Then I mentioned about His love for us – in prayer. How He loved us and where is it written in the Bible. How we need a Savior – since we cannot save ourselves and that Jesus is the Savior, the only Name given to whom salvation may be found and that all authority in heaven and in earth was given to Him, that He is the only way to the Father, the truth and the Life. That in His presence, there is freedom – from sickness, from worries, from weakness. That in Him, if we believe, we will have eternal life.

Then, I invited them to accept the Lord. They just obliged. I asked twice if they are willing. They followed the prayer and all glory and honor to God! They received and accepted the Lord!

It was an open heaven!

Right after they received, I prayed for Healing! For Peace, and Joy in their hearts!

I then followed the instructions of the Holy Spirit. I anointed them to receive the following:

  1. Eternal Life
  2. Renewed Strength
  3. Healing

img_20170218_215559

Then, I started talking about how to pray and taught them. We also prayed for the desires of their heart. Among which are as follows:

  • For love to bind the entire family, from their Children down to the Grandchildren
  • For the students in the whole family to finish study and graduate
  • For a prosperous life of their Children down to the grandchildren
  • For their long life

My wife Cora showed them too, what to read in the Psalms. But we trust the Lord for their teachings. I already mentioned to them the Life in Christ teaching. It will happen soon…

img_20170218_215826

God worked and moved mightily! We prayed for this! We do not know exactly how it will happen but it did! The power of an earnest prayer of the righteous! James 5:16

Worth mentioning too, before this day, is the acceptance too of Lola Siony! She’s already 92, and she believed and accepted the Lord – by witnessing a praise and worship done by the CLSF Paco, House of Prayer, in our Friday Night Shabbat!

What’s Next After Acceptance?

Congratulations!

You are saved now! You are a Son of God! You are now redeemed!

What’s next?

Time now to learn. To be equipped. To know the things about the God you accepted. Otherwise, if you will not change and press-on, you just might not grow spiritually in the Lord.

God loves you and you cannot change that. You cannot be separated from His love. He made a way for you to know His Son. He even gave you the freedom of choice to choose if you will accept Him or not – we know the consequences. The Lord Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father…

  1. You need to be baptized.
  2. You will have to spend time reading His Word – the Bible.
  3. You will have to listen, read on the teaching New Life in Christ.
    1. To learn how to pray
    2. To learn how it is to be a Christian
    3. To learn how to worship2_corinthians_5_17-dupe-close-800x800

You will be changed by starting to change how you think. We will pick it up from here…

betransformed

Ephesians 4:21-23 New Living Translation
Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.

Colossians 3:8-10 New Living Translation
But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.

How is this possible? You will learn this in the Teaching – New Life in Christ.

CHOOSE TO LOVE

1 JOHN 3:18 New Living Translation
Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.

190587-above-all-love-each-other-deeply

Yes. Love ought to be active. Not just in words but in truth and in action. It has to be shown. It must be expressed in a way that it is felt. It can be ignored, yes, but not always. This is the case only when the recipient is estranged or detached or totally alien to the feeling.

Love is something I would not normally define but something I’d do or show. Sinner that I am, I love those who love me…and receive love to those I love. Nothing, however, can compare to God’s love, to His command to love our enemy, To even pray for those who persecute us. Such love requires deeper intimacy to the Father’s love. Such is something you have to desire to feel. While it is already given, it can only be found thru the Son – our Lord Jesus – the Father’s greatest expression of love. God is love and to love is the greatest commandment from God.

John 13:34
So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.

thegreatestcom

1 John 4:12
No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.

1 John 4:20
If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?

1 Peter 1:22
You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.

ROMANS 5:3-5
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

PRAYER

2 Thessalonians 3:5
May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.

All praise, glory and thanksgiving to God, our loving Father!

Our God is Able. No doubt about that. If we doubt, then we are not worthy of Him at all. Doubt is not from God. All things are possible to Him. Nothing is even impossible to Him. It would benefit you most if you would allow Him to rule and reign in your life.

Saved BUT Undelivered

All Christians are saved.
1-john_1_9
I hope we won’t have to argue about that.
Let’s see. Are we really saved?
  • We believed in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ – that His name is above all names and that all authority in heaven and on earth is given Him. He redeemed us from our sins and cause us to be right in the eyes of God. He is the one and ONLY mediator between us men and God!
ACTS 10:43 New Living Translation
He is the one all the prophets testified about, saying that everyone who believes in him will have their sins forgiven through his name.”
ACTS 4:12 New Living Translation
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”
1 TIMOTHY 2:5 New Living Translation
For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity–the man Christ Jesus.
MATTHEW 28:18 Berean Study Bible
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.
When you believed our Lord Jesus Christ – you got saved! Others received the baptism (Acts 8:15) later on, and the teachings, but still – saved in the first place.
MARK 16:16 Berean Study Bible
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
ROMANS 10:13 Berean Study Bible
for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
ACTS 2:21 Berean Study Bible
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
And we can only call on the Lord’s name when we know His name – His being.
ACTS 2:38 Berean Study Bible
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Repentance is required before the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Repentance, for the forgiveness of sins and baptism of the Holy Spirit, for us to received the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
ROMANS 8

5Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.

9But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) 10And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you lifed because you have been made right with God. 11The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

12Therefore, dear brothers and sisters,e you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. 13For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature,f you will live. 14For all who are led by the Spirit of God are childreng of God.

15So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children.h Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”i 16For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. 17And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

Now we are sons and daughters of the living God! Are we?
However, despite being saved, despite being sons and daughters of the living God, there are situations and things in us that we are not yet able to get free from. This is where deliverance is needed. To set us free from this particular situation or being.
de·liv·er·ance
dəˈliv(ə)rəns/

“prayers for deliverance”
From what situation? From what being?
LUKE 4:18 Berean Study Bible
“The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
MATTHEW 11:5 New International Version
The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.
When the Lord proclaimed the good news and forgive the sins of the people, they also get healed from whatever they need healing from. That must include the inner – our emotions. I believe that we cannot thank or praise God with a heavy heart or even when we are sad. So there must be a deliverance from :
  1. Emotional problems –
  • Irritable to others. An irritable question. Do you know one?
  • Little or No tolerance from expectations or demands
  • When offended, feelings of anger, hate and resentment rise up
  • Overly sensitive – easily angered and lashed-out
  • Hard to forgive
  • Hard to feel loved
  • Easily frustrated
  • Retaliation urges
  • Irresponsible behavior
  • Feelings of hopelessness
  • ..and many more
  1. Unclean Spirits – to name a few…
  • Spirits of bondage – which must be broken
  • Spirits of addiction, lust, perversion
  • Spirits of rebellion
  • Spirits of witchcraft, divination and the occult – which must be renounced

REVELATION 16:13-14 Berean Study Bible
And I saw three unclean spirits that looked like frogs, coming from the mouths of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. They are demonic spirits who work miracles and go out to all the rulers of the world to gather them for battle against the Lord on that great judgment day of God the Almighty.

MATTHEW 8:3 Berean Study Bible
Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said, “be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

…and last but not the least – Demons.

1 TIMOTHY 4:1 New Living Translation
Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.

2 THESSALONIANS 2:3 Berean Study Bible
Let no one deceive you in any way, for it will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness (the son of destruction) is revealed.

EPHESIANS 5:6 Berean Study Bible
Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on the sons of disobedience.

1 SAMUEL 15:23

New International Version
For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king.”

New Living Translation
Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the LORD, he has rejected you as king.”

DEUTERONOMY 18:10-11 New Living Translation
For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering. And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead.

v.12 …Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD…

7-things-god-hates

Detestable practices…abominations to the Lord.

Such as…but not necessarily it. May or may not be the case for the Christian that you are BUT may or may not be to someone you know who accepted Christ and is still in bondage or torment of the spirits from their ancestors.

I have met Christians who say they are Christians but is the opposite of what I know our Lord Jesus Christ is.

  • Have you met a Christian who doesn’t know how to pray? The Lord prays a lot.
  • Have you met one who is always frustrated or easily saddened? The Lord is filled with joy. John 15:11
  • Have you met a Christian who is always sick? Or you know someone? The Lord heals.
  • Have you met someone who is tormented by demons? The Lord cast them out. Mark 3:15 even authorized the disciples.

MATTHEW 4:24 New Living Translation
News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed–he healed them all.

MATTHEW 11:5 New International Version
The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.

As Christians, we ought to be living our life in Christ – a rich and satisfying life in Him, with Him and for Him.

john1010

JOHN 10:10 New Living Translation
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

But there’s an unseen battle – a battle with the unseen! Just because you don’t see them doesn’t mean they are not real. Angels and Demons and Spirits are real! As real as the Holy Spirit of the living God, our Sovereign Lord!

EPHESIANS 6:12 Berean Study Bible
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

How can someone see the unseen when he is afraid? The gift of an open spiritual eye is for the fearless and the brave whose trust is in the Lord. Demons are horrific. Unclean Spirits are disgusting. Evil Spirits are in many forms, and can be terrifying. If you would see them, would you run? Remember, an open spiritual eye is not limited to the heavenly beings. There’s Hell too!

So, are you saved and delivered or are you saved and undelivered? Seek the Lord and know for yourself. Only the Holy Spirit can reveal this to you. If you really are a son of the living God, you alone can answer that.

Remember, only the unbelievers can be possessed. Believers, however, can be influenced, or deceived, or both.

COME, BE SAVED!

This is what we are before –

salvation_is_found

From Head to Toe:

  • We believe we are saved.
  • We feel saved.
  • We are richly blessed with good things.
  • We believe we are good. We know in our hearts that we are good – we do not offend anybody nor do anybody any harm.
  • We may also be holders of some title – and are also religious.
  • We may have so many friends and is richly blessed with great success.
  • We may also be in a state of so much problem, confusion, in deep hatred, lack of satisfaction, perplexion, lost (lacking direction), unsure of the future, hopeless (in a particular situation), feeling unloved or isolated or lonely, full of despair, always sick, is in fear of many things, tormented, etc.

The good news is this: No matter what we think or feel about ourselves or our state or even when we don’t ever thought of God, or Jesus – we are loved!

love-of-god

John 3:16 Berean Study Bible
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

However, the Kingdom of God – or God’s reign in our lives is not about emotions or feelings. It’s about what He says – and what we do about it.

Remember, no matter what we do or say or even believe, God is the same. He is still God and we are still His creation. No matter what we say or do or even believe, He still love us. Such love never change since God also is the same, yesterday, today and forever!

hebrews-13-8

So this could only mean, we need to know God first – for us to accept Him in our lives, right?

Romans 10:14 Berean Study Bible
How then can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach?

This also means, we need to know our current state and what we need to do about it? Right? We also need to understand why we need God! Right?

pos_new

Here’s the many reasons why you need to know God and why you should accept Him in your life, and then eventually live your life in Him:

(You will see the following scriptures or word of God or Bible verses in the New Testament. Just browse thru the index or table of contents. The list of the book or letters followed by the chapter # and then the verse #.)

1 Timothy 2:1-4 Berean Study Bible
First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered on behalf of all men for kings and all those in authority, so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity. This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

  • We are called to pray, intercede, to send our petitions to God. If you will accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, you will definitely learn how to pray – since you will also learn that He is the one to whom you should be praying to, only!
  • We ought to give thanks to God for our lives. This will be supported by a whole lot of scriptures later in this text.
  • God wants us to be saved. Saved from our current state –
    • away from God, and far away from Jesus, our Lord and Savior
    • independent from God, our loving Father
    • alien, even to the will of God in our lives
  • God wants us to come to the knowledge of the truth. The truth about what we believe for the longest time. The truth may only be found in Jesus! By accepting Him.

1 Timothy 2:5-6 Berean Study Bible
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all–the testimony that was given at just the right time.

This is our God! our Savior! He ransomed us from Sin! – from sure death so that we can be reconciled to God and be saved!

Galatians 1:3-5 Berean Study Bible
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

  • Jesus died for our sins to rescue us – from sure death under God’s wrath
  • This is our God, our Father’s will – that we be rescued or saved from this evil age of the present time.

Our God, who is also our Father is the creator of the Heavens and the Earth. The story of creation may be found and read in the Book of Genesis. Now, His only son, Jesus, is our Savior – the one who saves us from death and the wrath of God. He is also our Lord! To know God, you must know Jesus first – and all the things He has done.

BUT – and that is a big one and in bold letters, you need to believe. You must believe. It’s the very first step to your salvation – for you to be saved. Believing in the Lord Jesus is accepting Him! Salvation may also require your deliverance from something. Freedom is in Christ!

What must you do? See the following verses of the Apostles’ encounter with those who hears them:

Acts 2:37-38 Berean Study Bible
When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and asked Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

  1. Believe (to Accept)
  2. Repent of your Sins – you will learn of your sins anyway if you will just ask about what the Bible says about it
  3. Confess or Proclaim that Jesus is Lord!
  4. Be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit

This is what the Lord Jesus told His disciples, when they sent them out to the world:

Mark 16:15-18 Berean Study Bible
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well.”

John 3:18 Berean Study Bible
Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

Here, the Apostle John clearly states who our Lord Jesus is – God’s one and only Son! Then we become sons too!

John 1:12-13 Berean Study Bible
But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God–children born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but born of God.

John 3:36 Berean Study Bible
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life. Whoever rejects the Son will not see life. Instead, the wrath of God remains on him.”

You will be able to understand this eternal life thing when you are already living in Christ.

Acts 16:31 Berean Study Bible
They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Romans 10:4-9 Berean Study Bible
Christ is the end of the Law, in order to bring righteousness to everyone who believes. For concerning the righteousness that is by the Law, Moses writes: “The man who does these things will live by them.” But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down) or, ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).” But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Now this is one instruction from Apostle Paul about accepting Christ. You must confess or proclaim or say that Jesus is Lord. Lord of your life. Lord of your every being. Body, Soul, and Spirit. And when you believe, believe in your heart!

Titus 3:1-5 Berean Study Bible
Remind the believers to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient and ready for every good work, to malign no one, and to be peaceable and gentle, showing full consideration to everyone. For at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, misled, enslaved to all sorts of desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

Our God, is a loving Father and a merciful God. He knows everything about us. He is ready to listen and is always ready to take action for us if we would just rid ourselves of sin.

Isaiah 59:2 New Living Translation
It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.

I Corinthians 2:9 Berean Study Bible
Rather, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.”

To love God is to be reconciled with Him first…

Come, be saved! Accept the Lord Jesus, and see for yourself the many things God has in store for you even before you were born. He knows you by name. He made you. He awaits this day when you will come home to Him – the day when you will start to know Him for who He truly is.

John 14:6 Berean Study Bible
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

bridge-between-man-and-god

Accepting and Believing in Christ Jesus our Lord is just the start of the journey. You will have to go on living with Him, and for Him. And we’d take it from there. What matters is that you be saved first…and be delivered after.

What Hinders

When we pray, God listens.

19df0c27-13bc-412a-8a06-471b7f6a2218

But He, our loving Father might not take action. He might even turn away from us. While He hears us, and is able to respond to us, he will not take any action on our request or plea for varied reasons:

WE HAVE A SIN. WE MUST CONFESS AND REPENT AND ASK FORGIVENESS FIRST – for the Lord to take action or even consider our plea.

IF YOU CRY, WOULD HE LISTEN? Plea then! You can never tell when you will be in a situation when all you can do is cry and ask the Lord for His mercy and help. This is a point of helplessness – but we must understand the power of God to whom we cry. He is All-powerful and more than able to give us what we ask, or even think of!

May the Lord be pleased in us, and our prayers...

  • Psalm 141:2 New Living Translation
Accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering.
  • 1 John 5:14 New Living Translation
And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
  • 1 Peter 2:19-20 New Living Translation
For God is pleased with you when you do what you know is right and patiently endure unfair treatment. Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you.

God cannot be hindered. It is us who builds the wall that separates us from Him. We are the ones who fails to listen, and hear His loud voice. We are the ones who is blinded and cannot see His great mercy and love. Reconcile with God. Repent. Confess! So we may experience His abundant blessing and unfailing love in ways we cannot expect nor even think of!

Our Abba Father

Series #3

bemerciful

God is merciful. He made a way for us to be saved from our pitiful state in need of redemption.

Prophet Nehemiah has a lot to say about this when he prayed for Israel. (Bible reference is Nehemiah Chapter 9 starting from verses 6-31) There’s so much to learn about this prayer.

“May your glorious name be praised! May it be exalted above all blessing and praise!

6“You alone are the LORD. You made the skies and the heavens and all the stars. You made the earth and the seas and everything in them. You preserve them all, and the angels of heaven worship you.

7“You are the LORD God, who chose Abram and brought him from Ur of the Chaldeans and renamed him Abraham. 8When he had proved himself faithful, you made a covenant with him to give him and his descendants the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Jebusites, and Girgashites. And you have done what you promised, for you are always true to your word.

9“You saw the misery of our ancestors in Egypt, and you heard their cries from beside the Red Sea.c 10You displayed miraculous signs and wonders against Pharaoh, his officials, and all his people, for you knew how arrogantly they were treating our ancestors. You have a glorious reputation that has never been forgotten. 11You divided the sea for your people so they could walk through on dry land! And then you hurled their enemies into the depths of the sea. They sank like stones beneath the mighty waters. 12You led our ancestors by a pillar of cloud during the day and a pillar of fire at night so that they could find their way.

13“You came down at Mount Sinai and spoke to them from heaven. You gave them regulations and instructions that were just, and decrees and commands that were good. 14You instructed them concerning your holy Sabbath. And you commanded them, through Moses your servant, to obey all your commands, decrees, and instructions.

15“You gave them bread from heaven when they were hungry and water from the rock when they were thirsty. You commanded them to go and take possession of the land you had sworn to give them.

16“But our ancestors were proud and stubborn, and they paid no attention to your commands. 17They refused to obey and did not remember the miracles you had done for them. Instead, they became stubborn and appointed a leader to take them back to their slavery in Egypt! But you are a God of forgiveness, gracious and merciful, slow to become angry, and rich in unfailing love. You did not abandon them, 18even when they made an idol shaped like a calf and said, ‘This is your god who brought you out of Egypt!’ They committed terrible blasphemies.

19“But in your great mercy you did not abandon them to die in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud still led them forward by day, and the pillar of fire showed them the way through the night. 20You sent your good Spirit to instruct them, and you did not stop giving them manna from heaven or water for their thirst. 21For forty years you sustained them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing. Their clothes did not wear out, and their feet did not swell!

22“Then you helped our ancestors conquer kingdoms and nations, and you placed your people in every corner of the land.d They took over the land of King Sihon of Heshbon and the land of King Og of Bashan. 23You made their descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and brought them into the land you had promised to their ancestors.

24“They went in and took possession of the land. You subdued whole nations before them. Even the Canaanites, who inhabited the land, were powerless! Your people could deal with these nations and their kings as they pleased. 25Our ancestors captured fortified cities and fertile land. They took over houses full of good things, with cisterns already dug and vineyards and olive groves and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate until they were full and grew fat and enjoyed themselves in all your blessings.

26“But despite all this, they were disobedient and rebelled against you. They turned their backs on your Law, they killed your prophets who warned them to return to you, and they committed terrible blasphemies. 27So you handed them over to their enemies, who made them suffer. But in their time of trouble they cried to you, and you heard them from heaven. In your great mercy, you sent them liberators who rescued them from their enemies.

28“But as soon as they were at peace, your people again committed evil in your sight, and once more you let their enemies conquer them. Yet whenever your people turned and cried to you again for help, you listened once more from heaven. In your wonderful mercy, you rescued them many times!

29“You warned them to return to your Law, but they became proud and obstinate and disobeyed your commands. They did not follow your regulations, by which people will find life if only they obey. They stubbornly turned their backs on you and refused to listen. 30In your love, you were patient with them for many years. You sent your Spirit, who warned them through the prophets. But still they wouldn’t listen! So once again you allowed the peoples of the land to conquer them. 31But in your great mercy, you did not destroy them completely or abandon them forever. What a gracious and merciful God you are!

Another prophet who has prayed an intercession for God’s chosen people is Prophet Daniel. Chapter 9. Verses 3-19:

3So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and fasting. I also wore rough burlap and sprinkled myself with ashes.

4I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed:

“O Lord, you are a great and awesome God! You always fulfill your covenant and keep your promises of unfailing love to those who love you and obey your commands. 5But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations. 6We have refused to listen to your servants the prophets, who spoke on your authority to our kings and princes and ancestors and to all the people of the land.

7“Lord, you are in the right; but as you see, our faces are covered with shame. This is true of all of us, including the people of Judah and Jerusalem and all Israel, scattered near and far, wherever you have driven us because of our disloyalty to you. 8O LORD, we and our kings, princes, and ancestors are covered with shame because we have sinned against you. 9But the Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him. 10We have not obeyed the LORD our God, for we have not followed the instructions he gave us through his servants the prophets. 11All Israel has disobeyed your instruction and turned away, refusing to listen to your voice.

“So now the solemn curses and judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured down on us because of our sin. 12You have kept your word and done to us and our rulers exactly as you warned. Never has there been such a disaster as happened in Jerusalem. 13Every curse written against us in the Law of Moses has come true. Yet we have refused to seek mercy from the LORD our God by turning from our sins and recognizing his truth. 14Therefore, the LORD has brought upon us the disaster he prepared. The LORD our God was right to do all of these things, for we did not obey him.

15“O Lord our God, you brought lasting honor to your name by rescuing your people from Egypt in a great display of power. But we have sinned and are full of wickedness. 16In view of all your faithful mercies, Lord, please turn your furious anger away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain. All the neighboring nations mock Jerusalem and your people because of our sins and the sins of our ancestors.

17“O our God, hear your servant’s prayer! Listen as I plead. For your own sake, Lord, smile again on your desolate sanctuary.

18“O my God, lean down and listen to me. Open your eyes and see our despair. See how your city—the city that bears your name—lies in ruins. We make this plea, not because we deserve help, but because of your mercy.

19“O Lord, hear. O Lord, forgive. O Lord, listen and act! For your own sake, do not delay, O my God, for your people and your city bear your name.”

In every prayer we must make confession, not only of the sins we have been guilty of, but of our faith in God, and dependence upon him, our sorrow for sin, and our resolutions against it. It must be our confession, the language of our convictions.

Afflictions are sent to bring men to turn from their sins, and to understand God’s truth. Here is a believing appeal to the mercy of God. It is a comfort that God has been always ready to pardon sin. It is encouraging to recollect that mercies belong to God, as it is convincing and humbling to recollect that righteousness belongs to him. There are abundant mercies in God, not only forgiveness, but forgivenesses.

In all our prayers this must be our plea, we must make mention of his righteousness, even of his only. The humble, fervent, believing earnestness of this prayer should ever be followed by us.

His prophets and the major characters of the Bible tells us of God’s mercy, His great and gracious mercy and compassion!

We ought to be merciful to others – especially the poor who has no one to cry out to but to God. We ought to be merciful since our Father, our God, is merciful.

Those who shut their ears to the cries of the poor will be ignored in their own time of need.

God’s love abides in mercy.

  • 1 John 3:17 New Living Translation
If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion–how can God’s love be in that person?

What can we call ourselves when we refuse to be merciful? If our loving Father is merciful and we are not, what does that make of us?

We should rejoice about our loving God’s mercy! We should be jumping and shouting with great jubilation of His tender heart! For our many offenses, He forgave us. For our shortcomings, He looked on us with love, and compassion, and care.

Time to start thinking and reconsidering our ways. Let us renew our mind. Mercy!
