Numbers 23:19

As an act of thanksgiving, praise and worship to God, we ought to:

Jonas 2:9 But I will offer sacrifices to you with songs of praise, and I will fulfill all my vows. For my salvation comes from the LORD alone.”

Psalm 50:14 Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High.

  • Psalm 50:23 But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.”

Ecclesiastes 5:4 When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him.

Now we are sons and daughters of the living God! Are we?
However, despite being saved, despite being sons and daughters of the living God, there are situations and things in us that we are not yet able to get free from. This is where deliverance is needed. To set us free from this particular situation or being.

The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.
When the Lord proclaimed the good news and forgive the sins of the people, they also get healed from whatever they need healing from. That must include the inner – our emotions. I believe that we cannot thank or praise God with a heavy heart or even when we are sad. So there must be a deliverance from :
  1. Emotional problems –
  • Irritable to others. An irritable question. Do you know one?
  • Little or No tolerance from expectations or demands
  • When offended, feelings of anger, hate and resentment rise up
  • Overly sensitive – easily angered and lashed-out
  • Hard to forgive
  • Hard to feel loved
  • Easily frustrated
  • Retaliation urges
  • Irresponsible behavior
  • Feelings of hopelessness
  • ..and many more
  1. Unclean Spirits – to name a few…
  • Spirits of bondage – which must be broken
  • Spirits of addiction, lust, perversion
  • Spirits of rebellion
  • Spirits of witchcraft, divination and the occult – which must be renounced

REVELATION 16:13-14 Berean Study Bible
And I saw three unclean spirits that looked like frogs, coming from the mouths of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. They are demonic spirits who work miracles and go out to all the rulers of the world to gather them for battle against the Lord on that great judgment day of God the Almighty.

Detestable practices…abominations to the Lord.

Such as…but not necessarily it. May or may not be the case for the Christian that you are BUT may or may not be to someone you know who accepted Christ and is still in bondage or torment of the spirits from their ancestors.

I have met Christians who say they are Christians but is the opposite of what I know our Lord Jesus Christ is. 

  • Have you met a Christian who doesn’t know how to pray? The Lord prays a lot.
  • Have you met one who is always frustrated or easily saddened? The Lord is filled with joy. John 15:11
  • Have you met a Christian who is always sick? Or you know someone? The Lord heals.
  • Have you met someone who is tormented by demons? The Lord cast them out. Mark 3:15 even authorized the disciples.

News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed–he healed them all.

As Christians, we ought to be living our life in Christ – a rich and satisfying life in Him, with Him and for Him.

But there’s an unseen battle – a battle with the unseen! Just because you don’t see them doesn’t mean they are not real. Angels and Demons and Spirits are real! As real as the Holy Spirit of the living God, our Sovereign Lord!

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

How can someone see the unseen when he is afraid? The gift of an open spiritual eye is for the fearless and the brave whose trust is in the Lord. Demons are horrific. Unclean Spirits are disgusting. Evil Spirits are in many forms, and can be terrifying. If you would see them, would you run? Remember, an open spiritual eye is not limited to the heavenly beings. There’s Hell too!

So, are you saved and delivered or are you saved and undelivered? Seek the Lord and know for yourself. Only the Holy Spirit can reveal this to you. If you really are a son of the living God, you alone can answer that.

Remember, only the unbelievers can be possessed. Believers, however, can be influenced, or deceived, or both.

God is love. Who can argue?

This is not just a definition. I dare not. This is a mere introduction to one of the many attributes or qualities of God, our loving Father! 

Love has many facets:

  • It’s an action. You love others, even yourself.
  • It’s a state of being. You are loved. You loved someone too.
  • It’s an emotion. One of the very complicated one.
  • It’s a gift
  • It’s an obligation to do or express or give
  • It’s so much more than just a word!

There are many things to learn about our Father’s love. We just need to seek Him and experience His love the way a son should. Look also to Jesus, our Lord. He introduced us to the Father, and He showed us how to love. He gave his command and we ought to follow.

  • He pays us for what we deserve
  • He repays us for what we have done
  • He gives us what we deserve
  • He shows no partiality
  • He cannot be bribed

The 1st Shabbat Night of 2017

We are still in awe of the last Shabbat of 2016. It was full of new experiences to the majority of the members of CLSF Paco House of Prayer. See the old post here.

This night is expected to be exciting.

Ate Yollie wrote something for reading. It was given to her by Ate Eda.

“Äko may sakit ang pakiramdam ko, attack lang ng enemy…pero alam ko na makakareceive ako ng healing as we do our shabbat night”

“Ito yung purpose natin bakit tayo nagsha-shabbat”

After the Tzedakah, an opening prayer by Ate Yollie:

‘Lord, we thank you. We thank you so much as we start this year 2017. Salamat Panginoon na we can celebrate shabbat. We honor you at this time, father God. We thank you for the benefits of shabbat. We thank you na hindi lamang nare-recharge ang aming spiritual batteries but also you strengthen our divine connection with you. And thank you for that benefit that we will have a taste of paradise as we do this shabbat this day. We welcome you, Holy Spirit. Be the one who direct and inspire us tonight…even the songs that we will sing kayo po ang magbibigay sa amin ng direction. And pati po yung aming sharing time kayo po ang magdirect nito, Holy Spirit. We give this time unto you, in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.”

Kuya Eli and Ate Au lead the Shabbat Prayers.

Ate Yollie: “Lord, we thank you this offerings. Let this be the fund for the needs of the center….kayo po ang magmultiply ng blessing sa lahat…in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.”

Ate Yollie while blessing the Children: “…lalong-lalo na po ang malalim na relasyon nila sa inyo, lalo nyo pa pong palalimin, iinspire, ienergize na gawin po ang lahat ng mga nararapat upang mas makilala po nila kayo. Lord, we just speak blessing Lord, dito po sa last year ng kanilang semester. We pray Lord, that you will bless them sa kanilang thesis, bigyan po sila ng guidance, and that you will be glorified in each one of them. We give you back all the glory in Jesus’name.”

Proverbs 31:10 declared by the students for the wives and their mothers.

Psalm 128 was declared to the Husbands and Fathers – including spiritual fathers.

Ate Yollie: “Sa monday merong Nazareno. Sabi may threat. Pagpray natin kasi ang daming tao nyan. Yung possibility na may mangyari. Kaya Lord, kaya sabi ‘may you see manila prosper, and be kept safe, especially on Monday – the day po ng Nazareno. Hindi lang sila maawaken spiritually, but also keep them safe. At tsaka wala pong mangyaring terrorists attack. Lord, we charge your angels. Yan ang pinakamahalaga. Open their eyes and spiritual understanding, to the truth na mali ang kanilang ginagawa at kailangang madirect….In Jesus’name we pray. Amen.”

We then proceeded to singing of songs -in worship:

Ate Myles prayed a short prayer, then we greeted each other:

” God loves you! May the peace of God be with you always! Shabbat Shalom!” 

What happened next is an anointing. We all lined-up, as instructed by the Holy Spirit. Elders first. Diego was first among the students and Cyril was last.

Ate Myles prayed for Ate Yollie and Kuya Joe:

” Lord, we release your blessing. Let there be…wisdom, double-portion of anointing. Let there be rejoicing in their spirit, and may they see the harvest, the fruit of their hands. So Lord, continually bless them O God, in all the things that they need physically, spiritually O Father. Thank you so much that you have given us leaders O God. Lord, thank you for Kuya Joe. for Ate Yollie, even for TJ and Joshua and Elijah. Thank you, Lord for this family. Lord, embrace them O God with a full blast of blessing that is coming from your throne o Father. Thank you, in Jesus’ name. Amen!” 

Ate Yollie: One last song of rejoicing sa Lord!

Ate Au lead: Shout to the Lord all the earth let us sing 🎵 Power and majesty praise to the King! 🎵 Mountains bow down and the sea will roar at the sound of your name. 🎵 I sing for joy at the work of your hand 🎵 Forever, I love you! Forever I’ll stand🎵 Nothing conpares to the promise I have in you 🎶

Ate Myles prayed: “Lord, we seal all the prayers, and all pronounced blessings, the giftings, the promises you have given to each one of us. Let it not be taken by the enemy but by the blood of Jesus, seal it O Father. Father, we rejoice in your goodness, we claim all of this, claim it O God, and it will come to pass. I even pray Lord, dun sa food na kakainin. Maging strength po ito ng katawan namin, at pagpalain mo po ng todo todo ang nagprepare nito. We give you glory. We give you praise, O God. Thank you for your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen”

We then partake of the meal. Ate Yollie ordered a pizza. I did prepare a rice meal.

Sharing started as soon as everyone is settled.

I started the sharing, followed by Diego. He mentioned John 15 about bearing fruit – the fruits of the Holy Spirit. My wife, for the first time, sang songs for the glory of the Lord! Scripture Song Isaiah 43:1-3. She also mentioned Luke 13 about a woman who was set free from her infirmity. Diego mentioned Galatians 5:22. Ate Au shared the healing on her leg pain. Jthan mentioned something about new things – about looking forward to every shabbat now. Ate Yollie mentioned something about the Taste of Paradise. I related how I saw everybody looked like a candle with the flame for our head. Ate Cora shared something about Cyril’s gift, a small harp! Ate Yollie talked about the youth being unleashed during the last CLSF Worker’s Camp. Diane shared a verse from her quiet time: 1 John 3:10 and John 1:39. Kim shared about his struggle on his quiet time. He also said that we Should establish ourselves in the Word of the Lord. Kuya Joe closed the shabbat with a prayer.

2017 WORD

The verse that the Lord is telling us for this year.

Ephesians 3:20-21

New International Version
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

New Living Translation
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

English Standard Version
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

It’s not just how the verse is translated. More importantly is how are we to make sense of this verse in our life. What possible way can we benefit from it?

The Apostle Paul in this epistle is simply giving back all the glory to Him, our Father in Heaven thru Jesus our Lord. He, however, inserted a quality or characteristic of our loving Father, the God of all creation.

The message ought to be clear to us.

  • God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask
  • God is able to do immeasurably more than all we imagine
  • God is able to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask
  • God is able to accomplish infinitely more than we might think
  • God is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask
  • God is able to do far more abundantly than all that we think
  • God is able to do infinitely more than all we ask
  • God is able to do infinitely more than all we imagine

There might be a big difference on word choices for each translations but the same is true for all: GOD IS ABLE.

  1. IMMEASUREABLY = Incapable of being measured. Limitless!
  2. INFINITELY = Having no boundaries or limits; impossible to measure or calculate.
  3. ABUNDANTLY = More than adequate; oversufficient, abounding

God’s ability applies to 2 things here:

  1. ALL we ask. Including what we might ask. Yes, even the possibility of your asking is accounted for. You might, but then, you didn’t ask. See just how great our GOD is?!
  2. ALL we think. Including what we might think.Yes, even the possibility of your thoughts. You see, sometimes, you may just not thought of something that you should have.

Now, what will you be asking the Lord in prayer?  What will you be thinking of? Careful not to doubt. He knows. He sees. He understands.

In other epistles, Apostle Paul wrote the following verse, a cross-reference to the one above:

2 Corinthians 9:8

And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

No doubt about what the Word of the Lord is saying. It is now up to us to believe. Let God who is able, hear our prayers and let our thoughts reach Him. He never fails for His love endures forever!

The Golden Rule

We all know the golden rule. But not everybody is aware that it is written in the Bible. The Lord Jesus said it himself:

Matthew 7:12 New Living Translation
“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.

What more can we say if these words are still not clear to many? What better word would it take for the message to get through our hearts and mind?

Let us first connect the verse above to the verses below:

  • Matthew 22:35 –  New Living Translation
    One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
  • Galatians 5:14 New Living Translation
    For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
  • Romans 13:10 New Living Translation
    Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.

And, for better understanding I’d include here the portion of 1 John 4 about Loving One Another. I will not add anything nor remove anything. These are words from the witness himself – the Apostle John. 1 John 4:7-20 New Living Translation

7Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.

8But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

9God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.

18Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

19We love each other because he loved us first.

20If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?

21And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their Christian brothers and sisters.

It may be a lengthy one but it’s very “meaty”. Its full of reason and command. Of all the virtues, put love – as mentioned in Colossians 3:14 NIV. For love binds them all in unity.

Now let us love one another. For this is one of the greatest commandment.

24/7 LOVING GOD

Psalm 121:3-4 tells us that our God never slumbers nor sleeps.

He is a 24/7 God – high up in heaven but is watching all of us. Our loving Father watches over us. The entire Psalm 121 New Living Translation is as follows:

1I look up to the mountains—does my help come from there?

2My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!

3He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber.

4Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.

5The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.

6The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night.

7The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.

8The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.

Such great assurance for all of us. For what reason would He not let us stumble, would He keep watch on us without sleeping, would He keep us from harm? It is all out of LOVE FOR US!

Indeed, God is our helper. He knows our many weaknesses, our frailties, our shortcomings and lack of better understanding. He made the heavens and the earth. Who can else can do such thing other than the Almighty? Psalm 124:8 says that ‘Our help is from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.’ He is indeed all-powerful. Nothing is too hard for Him. Nothing, even, is impossible to Him.

  • Psalm 16:8 New Living Translation
    I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.

The Lord himself watches over us. We’re not supposed to be shaken, nor stirred, nor troubled, nor be fearful. He is our protector. Who can stand against an all-powerful God? He would not even allow the sun to harm us with its rays! Such love! He wouldn’t let anything harm us and He is watching our coming and going. Wow. What more can you ask for? Isn’t this so much love? As if it wasn’t enough. He sent His own Son to save us from death – Sin. Hence, the world famous verse John 3:16. Not just to save us from sure death but moreso to give us Eternal Life thru His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

How great is our God! How awesome is our Father! For His great love He himself walked the earth thru our Lord Jesus. He is full of compassion and mercy that He heals the sick, drive-out demons, feed the hungry and save all who believe! He even performed countless miracles! All for love of us. All out of love for us.

We can’t help but give thanks to Him then. He deserves all honor, and praise and worship!

  • Psalm 50:23 New Living Translation
    But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.”
  • Jonah 2:9 New Living Translation
    But I will offer sacrifices to you with songs of praise, and I will fulfill all my vows. For my salvation comes from the LORD alone.”
  • Psalm 95:2 New Living Translation
    Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him.

Rooted in His word, we should be doing what we ought to do – thank Him for His mighty works! Follow His requirements, for salvation is from God alone and no one else.

    Our God is a God of salvation, and to GOD, the Lord, belong deliverances from death.

We should all turn to God. Not turn away. He loves us so that He is willing to forgive us of our many sins if we repent. Ask and pray to God in the name of our Lord Jesus! He awaits. He patiently waits for us. He already have revealed his instructions thru his Prophets.

It is up now to us to act. To do what we ought to do. To do what is right for us – to be saved! The olden times’ requirement has not changed. Even after the Lord ascended to heaven, nothing in this requirements has changed. They are even His command:

    So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.
  • John 15:17 New Living Translation
    This is my command: Love each other.
  • Romans 13:8-10 New Living Translation
    Owe nothing to anyone–except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law. For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These–and other such commandments–are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.

Act now. Decide to turn away from the wrong things you do. Turn to God! Renew your heart and mind. Choose life. Choose to love! Repent of your sins! Make the Lord the ruler of your life!

Trust in God

We all have issues. Everybody faces different kinds of problems. Varied trials tests even the toughest. We are on equal footing when it comes to this. The big difference lies on who we put our trust to when trials come, and when we are faced with a very big problem.

Psalm 62:8 International Standard Version
People, in every situation put your trust in God; pour out your heart before him; for God is a refuge for us.

God is a refuge for us. A refuge is something that provides shelter. A protected place. No need to explain further since we already understood this.  No matter what we believe, God is the same. No matter our situation, He is our refuge. But God is more than just a refuge.

It’s important to read the entire chapter of a Psalm to see through the whole idea. There are certain requirement of action written to be able to gain the benefits of some truths. (As in Psalm 91)

Sin means “to miss the mark.” It can refer to doing something against God or against a person (Exodus 10:16), doing the opposite of what is right (Galatians 5:17), doing something that will have negative results (Proverbs 24:33–34), and failing to do something you know is right (James 4:17). In the Old Testament, God even instituted sacrifices for unintentional sins (Numbers 15:27). Sin is the general term for anything that “falls short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

The sin nature leads to trespassing. A trespasser is someone who crosses a line or climbs a fence that he should not cross or climb. A trespass may be intentional or unintentional. Trespass can also mean “to fall away after being close beside.” Peter trespassed when he denied Jesus (Luke 22:34, 56–62). We all “cross the line” in thought, word, or attitude many times a day and should be quick to forgive others who do the same (Matthew 6:15).

Transgression refers to presumptuous sin. It means “to choose to intentionally disobey; willful trespassing.” Samson intentionally broke his Nazirite vow by touching a dead lion (Numbers 6:1–5; Judges 14:8–9) and allowing his hair to be cut (Judges 16:17); in doing so he was committing a transgression. David was referring to this kind of sin when he wrote, “Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered” (Psalm 32:1). When we knowingly run a stop sign, tell a lie, or blatantly disregard an authority, we are transgressing.

Iniquity is more deeply rooted. Iniquity means “premeditated choice, continuing without repentance.” David’s sin with Bathsheba that led to the killing of her husband, Uriah, was iniquity (2 Samuel 11:3–4; 2 Samuel 12:9). Micah 2:1 says, “Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it.” In David’s psalm of repentance, he cries out to God, saying, “Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin” (Psalm 51:2).

Would you still want to remain a sinner? The benefits of repentance awaits those who are willing to answer God’s call. He is calling you to His way away from your way, the righteous way of God, to holiness, thru our Lord Jesus. Would you not respond now?

On Lacking Nothing.

Nobody, I’m sure, would want to be lacking anything. Nobody would want to be needing something and have such need remain unmet. Paraphrasing further, I’m sure without a tinge of doubt, that nobody would want to be constantly begging for something.

Simply put, to not lack something, one needs to be in abundance. 🙂 Sounds funny but true. To be in abundance, one must be prosperous, or is it vice versa?

Our God is a generous God. He gives, not just forgive. He prospers us. He make us abundant and He alone can put us in that state of ‘LACKING NOTHING.’
